What personal data we collect and why we collect it
In Brief
We DO NOT collect or store your data when you visit our website. However, the third party services we use – such as Youtube – might collect or store your data. Please see below for more information.
We store your data ONLY when you become a member (your membership information including your name, email address, and postal address) or communicate with us via email (your name and email address). We DO NOT share your data with anyone else. Please see below for more information.
When you visit our website
We DO NOT collect or store your data when you visit our website. However, the tools and services we use might record your data. In this document we try to explain what this might involve. Please read this information carefully so that you know which companies and services are involved and how they collect and store information. By visiting our webpage you are also agreeing to the use of these services.
Let us explain the services we use so that you know which companies might be recording or using your data.
- Our hosting company is Domain247.
- Domain247 is also our email provider.
- This website is built with WordPress.
- We use a plugin called Jetpack to ensure the security of the site. With Jetpack we also monitor the number of visits to our website.
- We use a plugin called LiteSpeed Cache to facilitate a faster response time and better user experience.
- We upload our videos to Youtube and embed them in our pages or posts.
- Although they are not a part of this webpage, note that we also have Facebook and Twitter (X) accounts where you can follow us.
Domain247
To the best of our knowledge Domain247 does not store any personal data about you when you visit our webpage. However, to be able to provide their services — so that you can access our webpage — they collect the visitor’s (your) IP address, accessed URL (the webpage you are visiting) and the user agent (browser details). They delete this data automatically after a while.
WordPress
By default WordPress does not collect any personal data about visitors. However, if you leave a comment to one of our pages or posts, then some data will be collected by WordPress.
When visitors leave comments on our site WordPress collects the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
WordPress also says that:
“An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.”
Also, if you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. WordPress claims that these cookies will last for one year. However, you can delete this cookie (or any other cookie) using your browser’s settings.
WordPress also claims that visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
WordPress stores your data if you leave a comment and they claim that the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. The reason they provide for this is as follows: “This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.”
If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data WordPress holds about you, including any data you have provided to them. You can also request that WordPress erases any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data WordPress is obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Please contact WordPress if you have any questions about their privacy policy or information they hold about you by emailing dpo@wordpress.org.
Jetpack
We use Jetpack to block malicious login attempts. Jetpack also provides some statistics about website usage. Jetpack claims to be GDPR compliant. Note that this service is provided by Automattic, you should also check their privacy policy.
LiteSpeed Cache
This site utilises caching in order to facilitate a faster response time and better user experience. Caching potentially stores a duplicate copy of every web page that is on display on this site. All cache files are temporary, and are never accessed by any third party, except as necessary to obtain technical support from the cache plugin vendor. Cache files expire on a schedule set by the site administrator, but may easily be purged by the admin before their natural expiration, if necessary.
Youtube & Google
Articles and pages on this site might include embedded content from Youtube. Embedded content from other websites such as Youtube behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Youtube definitely collects data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. We have no control of what they do but you can install plugins to your browser to reduce the amount of data Youtube (and hence Google) collects from you.
As Kulttuurimaja Kamera Ry we do not collect your data or share it with anyone. However be aware that when you watch our videos Youtube will record and store your data and use it. Although they say that they do not sell your data, we recommend reading the information about their privacy pages to learn what they do with it. Since our posts might have embedded Youtube videos, you should also check their retention policy.
When you send us an email
When you send us an email, it will arrive to our email inbox at Domain247. This means that we will be able to see your email address and the information you provide in your email. The email will be stored in Domain247’s server and will not be used for any other purpose than communicating with you.
When you become a member
